Agriculture

The use of drones in agriculture is a relatively new concept. Remote sensing has traditionally been used with manned aircraft or satellite imagery.

    Prescription Mapping

Using advanced analytics software Highroglyph services multiple growers that apply aerial data to their spatial management systems for prescription applications.

    Cotton Field

This Cotton field has poor soil fertility. Data was collected in the crop in the late season of 2019 to measure and verify locations of poor soil areas. After the data was collected and verified, a prescription map was created on Ag Leader SMS and gypsum was applied after harvest. In February of 2020 a soil analysis was taken and will be monitored throughout the growing season to measure the efficiency of targeting specific zones instead of a blanket application across the entire field with no precise zonations.

    Walnut Orchard

Alkaline (“salty”) areas were prominent across the Western end of this Walnut Orchard. Data was collected in 2018 and data was uploaded to Ag Leader SMS for specific prescription mapping to target these “salty” regions in the orchard. By allocating specific rates of gypsum on these areas the Western end of the block has been producing more efficient trees with higher yields.

    Weed Pressure Mapping

    Rice Field

The biggest issue in rice production is weed management. Highroglyph has had tremendous success in isolating the spectral signature of watergrass in rice fields and creating weed pressure maps. These datasets have also been successfully used for variable spray rate applications as well for a more controlled use of applications.

    Treatment Trial Measurements & Analysis

Using multispectral & RGB sensors treatments can be quantified and measured throughout the growing season. Highroglyph works with multiple Agribusinesses & R&D endeavors in measuring such trials.

    Cotton

In this cotton field one new treatment was applied. The trial consisted of the application to be applied at 2 qts/acre on the Southern 3rd of the field, 1 qt/acre in Middle 3rd and no application on the Northern 3rd. As shown above the visual analysis was a success.

    Almonds

Multiple treatments were applied to this orchard. The goal was to get a visual analysis and comparison between treatments on select rows. By using a multispectral and RGB sensor the results were very promising for this client.
